Taking the PULSE of the ocean
Show notes
Welcome back to another episode of Ocean Insight! We are tuning in from the western shores of Africa, where we virtually had a lovely chat with Dr. Baye Cheikh Mbaye and Dr. Ibraihma Camara who are both co-coordinating the PULSE project in Senegal.
In the PULSE project the partners from Senegal and Germany want to increase the ability to access user-friendly, cost-efficient instrumentation and data of the coastal area; we want to close a loop from data to knowledge to action and back to data. By using cost-efficient devices measuring temperature, salinity and chlorophyll as proxies for probability of fish occurrence and establishing a tested process sequences they want to engage scientists, local authorities and beneficiaries in data sharing via public and easily accessible tools.
We also briefly touched upon the efforts it takes to be as inclusive as possible in adressing the involved stakeholders. From designing the project itself to producing outputs that reach a broad audience.
